94 cobra running warm
Hey yall. So this is ganna sound weird or maybe just an annoying coincidence.
So my problem, my stock temp gauge at normal warmed up temp was a little past 1/4 just under the middle. Well after my tune up temp needle points at 3/4 now and I am worried because it's not normal. Coolant topped off. When I took off the 1 plug it wasn't even gapped! the top was touching the plug. Also all other plugs where gapped at .35 now my new ones at .54.... So guys is this affecting my car to run hot or is it my cooling system taking a dive and is just now coincidence.?
I just changed the spark plugs from autolite double platinum to regular copper heads.
Tune up.
Taylor wires
Autolite copper . 54
Fuel filter
New cap and rotor

Being gapped at .035 before , and 1 of them had a closed gap tells me the car was probly wasting more fuel than it was burning. So it was probly running cooler.
By going to the correct gap on all plugs your using the fuel more efficiently and generating a bit more heat in doing so. Still seems a bit high, but as long as your in the normal range and you dont notice any drivability issues I wouls just keep an eye on it. My 94 stock gauge ran up there a bit high to after I advanced the timeing to 12btc.
And as Im sure you have heard the stock gauges are really not that acurate, if you want to know where your temps are get a aftermarket gauge.

Yeah. I will install this autometer gauge I have tomorrow.
Before I did the little tune up the car ran a little rough and underpowered, but was very drivable, now it's smoother and the power is much noticeable.
