Default what type of socket do I need

hi,
to open the spark plugs on a 92 mustang Gt what type of socket do I need, well more like what size?

Use a 5/8 socket to remove them. Gap them to .054 with plug gapper

I got NGK iridium do I need to Gap them?
I'll have to read about gapping now too sure what it is
