Air bag light/ buzzing sound... with a twist!
Hey guys, I'm sure this has been talked about, but I have a unique spin on this. My air bag light has been flashing since the day I bought it. One of the first things I did to the car was swap the dash lights with LEDs. At first I just left the air bag light out, but immediately when I put the key in I got that damn buzzing noise until I put a bulb in where the air bag light was. Everything has been fine until today the air bag light stopped blinking, and while I was driving the damn buzzing noise came back. I got the car home and let it sit for 2 hours and put the key back in and suddenly the buzzing noise is gone and the air bag light is working again...................wtf!?
1. Why would this happen?
2. Is that buzzing noise ONLY for the air bag, or could it be for other things (such overheating or whatever)?
3. Is there a way I can just pull that damn buzzer out so I never have to hear it again?
4. I don't know if this matters or is related, but for years the left turn signal light (on the dash) will not come on 80% of the time (but the lights on the outside come on, it's just in the dash)... is this related to what happened today?
Thanks for your help!

When you pulled the cluster to install the led lights , you should have cleaned all the contacts for the bulbs. I would pull the cluster again and get some contact cleaner and clean all the copper where the bulbs contact it. Make sure your bulbs are nice and snug in the sockets and they don't wobble around a bit.
Sometimes a strong magnifying glass is needed to look at all the copper traces on the back , I have seen some very tiny cracks in the sheet used back there, and this can cause intermittent loss of contact.
Also clean all connections where the harness plugs into it. I believe it is just a thin ribbon with copper traces on it that makes contact with the plug back there.

That's an interesting theory, it seems like a good idea and while I'm at it I'll swap the bulb again just for ****s and giggles. But that what about that damn buzzard? Is that only for the air bag light or does it have multiple uses? Can I cut the buzzard out?

Ok so I ordered some more LED's, and this weekend I will hopefully pull out the cluster, clean it, and swap the bulbs while I'm at it. I will probably take the blue box out while I'm at it, so I do not get that stupid buzzard again. Piece of crap. lol
