Engine help!

Engine help.

Im getting ready to do a small engine build up. I have a bunch of parts I've gotten for free or next to nothing and plan on using them. I have a few question and trying to figure out this on a budget. I have a bare 302 block and my buddy might give me a 351 block. I already have a set of gt40p heads(ported/polished), gt40 upper & lower intake(ported/polished), throttle body elbow adpt., 70mm throttle body, 85mm mass air sensor, 24# injectors, Hi volume oil pump, 30over pistons & rings, and various gaskets and seals.

My big question is should I stay with the 302 block or go with the 351? Advantages or disadvantages? Clearance issues? Any parts or anything that will have to change or?

Any info is greatly appreciated!!

302 block, as all your parts will work, 351 block, will require your gt-40p heads to be drilled for 1/2 head bolts, will need 351 oil pan, timing cover, distributor and a intake for a 351 = it sounds like you are on a cheap budget so the 351 is not even an option for you

I agree. Use a 302 block. They can be had for a song. Im selling one in the classifieds for $100 bucks. I bet you could find a similar deal on craigs list in your area.
