Default Motors shot what to do?

My motor is shot, it was making a loud ticking noises from the valve train. I pulled the intake and valve covers to find pieces of metal shavings everywhere. With 236000 miles on it I figure it was due to go. But there is about 2500 invested in this car including purchase. I doubt I will be able to swap the motor in my drive way and am thinking of parting it out. Just wondering if there is anywhere that I could get a motor cheap beside junk yard thats rebuilt. I don't care if it has carberated manifold or anything.

use the phonebook and find places that will rebuild it, you could probably get a decent rebuild for around $1500.
I found a shortblock (block, pistons, and cam assembled)bored 0.040 over for 1185 canadian, I just put everything else together. took 3 long days to put it in the car running, but I had a hoist and tranny jack though.

a shop might install it for mabye $800

Now's probably the time to get that stroker kit you've always wanted. Some kits are $1000-$1300. Assembly and machine work will cost another $800-$1000, but it definately be better than a junkyard replacement.

I would just do a engine swap, either a used motor or a rebuilt. Some times can get a deal on a motor on E-Bay! Also, do you need a complete long block or a short block? Stay with a roller motor, maybe 1990-1995. Check some machine shops in your area or contact the National Mustang Club. Maybe the members can help you locate one. Good Luck. I live in Rockville,MD. if need any more help let me know.

I got my top end apart. I cleaned everything up and hoping that when I put the car back together it runs good enough to sell it. I just going to sell the car and trade in my v6 and get a 99-04 gt.
