1994 Mustang Gt 5.0 Idle issues

I have a 1994 gt I just picked up with the 5.0. I am not as familiar with the 5.0 I have had 3 4.6 gt's and im looking for some help. I was tinkering with it and it runs decent but it idles high it will sit at 1500 to 1700 and will go down sometimes to about 1100 and will sit there. It is throwing check engine codes but I cant check them my ob2 will not connect. I do know that there are no cats and the smog has been removed by previous owner. I am trying to get it in good shape time till I am able to swap out the motor for a stroker I am rebuilding. Any help will be appreciated I think it could be a vacuum issue but not sure.

I think your are dead on with the vacuum leak theory.

But someone could have tinkered with the throttle stop screw as well... I would do a base idle reset http://www.muscularmustangs.com/idlereset.php

You can check the codes by using a paperclip or jumper wire under the hood.

Probably right about the vacuum leak. There are two or three good sized lines that hide under the upper intake, all three of mine were open.

Welcome to the forum, but for the "love of Pete", start a new thread with the problem.
