1984 mustang gt 5.0 smoke/steam coming from vents
Hi guys, so the heater core in my mustang was leaking so I moved the hoses to the threaded pipes next to the heater core pipes (which i believe are for the ac) and the heat worked again until yesterday. I was on the free way when steam started coming from the vents and the car sputtered and died. Apparently the hose had split where I connected it to the threaded pipe and my gauges don't work so I didn't know it was overheating. So I let the car cool down, cut out the split, and connected the hoses together (bypassed everything), and filled the car with water. The car seems to drive fine but I still get smoke/steam through the vents whenever I accelerate. Any ideas why this would happen even with the heater core bypassed? There is no sweet smell but the car was/is filled with water, not coolant. Also, I just put in a new heater blower motor last month.

Lol so you tried to use your ac evaporator for a heater core, I have never heard of that one before.
IF you by passed every thing under the hood and just looped the heater hoses together , then the liquid your getting in the car is probly just left over from the leaky heater core, and now blown evaporator.

Running the heater hoses through the ac evap actually worked great up until the hose blew. Yes I looped the hoses together and the steam is still coming after driving for another hour+. It seems odd to me that steam would still be pumping out after driving so far...

I don't have the capability to post a picture but I did hook the hoses back up to the evap yesterday and the steam is gone, maybe it just needed a flush? I'll be flushing the radiator this weekend just to keep things clean. Mjr I'm curious about your secret, do you care to share? Maybe cutting through the firewall or dash??
