Default Car won't turn off

The car won't turn off. When I go to the off position it feels loose and nothing happens. I pulled the fuel pump fuse and batt terminal to shut it off. It seems like the upper plastic slider is engaged but it is not pulling the lower slider that shuts off the ignition switch. Anybody run into this before?

It sounds like the lock cylinder/tumbler in the column is bad

I had the same thing in my 95 gt I had to rebuild the column, there are metal rods inside that actuate the ignition switch and one fell out of place until I had that fixed I just pulled the switch down and used that to shut mine off

It's very common for those plastic rods to fail. Sounds like you've got to rebuild the column.

Ditto. Plastic rods failed in my column also. I fixed my problem by just swapping out the entire column with another. It was a $25 buck you pull piece.
