I guess it depends on how the PCV is hooked up. I have my PCV valve routed to the suction side of the blower, so it wouldn't close under boost. I had a few people recommend connecting it that way, to provide negative pressure to the crankcase. If it was connected directly to the upper intake, then yes, I suppose it would close under boost.

I agree the boost should be staying in the cylinders, not the crankcase, but there will always be some blow by, won't there? I have only had the issue under race conditions.

Update: the Ford grommet fit by far the best out of any other grommet I've tried. It felt pretty snug. It also seems like it will at least help the leak and keep it from popping out at 5 psi. I did not put the Permatex on it yet because I wanted to do a boost leak test with it first out of curiosity. I did not have time to do a boost leak test because my wife was talking my ear off all night about God knows what. lol Hopefully, I will have time to do a test tonight. I'm sure it will be better, then I'll put the Permatex on and call it a day.

Hopefully that information helps somebody else out with the same issue. The ones from Napa, Advanced Auto Parts, and American Muscle didn't work for me. I got mine from a Ford dealership, but I could have ordered it from CJ Pony Parts as well.

How are you doing a boost leak test? I would be interested to know the procedure.

I got a boost leak tester for 25 bucks with a gauge on it. I take the coupler off the MAF sensor, put the tester in there, fill up the car with air through the valve stem via air compressor, and since it's a N/A car I just see if I can get to 10 PSI without losing air pressure quickly and listen for a hiss. If I hear a hiss or cannot get to 10 PSI, there is a vacuum leak somewhere. It is through this method that I have found the vacuum leak from my TPS sensor that was causing my car to stall out when coming up to red lights, a small vacuum leak from my vacuum tree, and now from the stupid PCV valve grommet. It would only build up to 5 psi and couldn't get past that because all the air was coming out from the PCV valve grommet from it being too small. I hope that helps. It's really easy and pretty useful for a 25 dollar tool.

I got my tester from boostpro.net

My best friend has a 91 Eagle Talon TSI (AWD turbo). He inspired me to get the tool and I saw how useful it is on his car.

So I just did the test, PERFECT! No Permatex required! I got up to 10psi and it held pressure very well. So I guess when you need a new PCV valve grommet, go OEM Ford.

Cool. Thanks for the info. Sounds like a tool I might need to invest in.
