Default who can tell me if i got 7.5 or an 8.8,

code for trans is Z, 308 gears but still don,t know the diff.

5.0's didn't come with a 7.5 after 1985 = last year of 7.5 in v-8 mustangs

if im correct they are a28 spline, my friend has a 5 lug 8.8 rear for sale , as long as it has the same spline as mine can i swap out the 4 lug axles, its a 8.8 3.73 gearing out of a mustang , don,t know what year 5 lug came out?

Just throw the whole rear end in instead of an axle swap. If it's from a newer Mustang, 94 ^, it'll be a little wider than the Fox 8.8, but will still work as long as you don't lower your car 2" and run 10" wide wheels in the back.

Oh I see now, OK, Fox axles are shorter than SN axles. I think like 3/8" or something close to that. I don't know if they will swap to an SN housing, usually everyone swaps SN axles to a Fox housing to get the 5 lug wheel option.

Someone will chime in here and give a definite answer. Or just keep an eye open on Craigslist, a Fox 8.8 isn't a rarity, and usually have steeper gears already installed for you. Good luck
