Default Camshaft pitting, what's up with that?

Hey guys so I'm putting cam and heads into this "lower-mileage" 5.0 HO and when I pulled out the camshaft I noticed pitting on all of the lobes (see pic). The journals are all in perfect condition and every measurement I have taken has been within spec (lift, journals, etc). All but 2 of the lifters look and roll like new. The 2 that don't look new have a small amount of pitting on the roller but still roll fine. Does anyone know what causes this? Should I be afraid of other problems down the road?

Thanks all

Camshaft pitting is normally caused by two primary things, wrong API oil being used for the year of car or long periods of sitting where corrosion sets in.

Since the car is low miles I'll go with the car probably sitting for weeks/months at a time without being driven.

that is not normal pitting....that is wear due to either higher mileage than what owner thinks.........or lack of lube

Door stop!? I was thinking about making it into a lamp stand. But okay that's too bad. I don't have time to get deep into the bottom end and see how the bearings are doing. When I have it up and running I will check the oil pressure and if it's not so good maybe I'll do a full rebuild next summer.

Also yes the car has sat for many months at a time without running.
