Default 86 head numbers not matching?

The left side reads that the heads came from a 60's model Shelby and the other side doesn't match up. What's going on?

the 86 heads were a one year only head for mustangs iirc so its probably been swapped at some point in its life. i doubt the other head is coded for a shelby they just used regular 289 heads with a screw in rocker stud

Agree with being switched, one side reads 6A31 and the other side is 6A28. The car is new to me and just trying to get all the kinks worked out.

You're looking at the wrong numbers to id heads.......on the underside by the corner runners are the date codes......86 starts off as e6.. 60's heads as cxxx so the numbers you posted don't jive with casting codes for any year heads

Yup you're right got it figured out. Now I have another question. The Bell housing has washers spacing out the gear box because the input shaft is to long . I don't believe that it's safe to drive like this. But i read that I can trim the input shaft 3/8 of an inch and it will slide together and work correctly?
