GT40P intake vs Edelbrock Preformer Intake

Hey guys been a little while but I have a 94 Mustang converted to a 5.0L with 24lb injectors, 70mm throttle body, and GT40P heads. I plan to be upgrading the cam soon but in the meantime, I have an opportunity to get the edelbrock intake and I was curious if it was a better intake than the GT40P intake that I currently have in regards to making horsepower.

I think it's a better intake, but not worth the time/cost to swap for 5-10 hp. Unless your getting it for a great deal and your doing the work yourself, then maybe. If your looking for every available hp.

I can get both the upper and lower edelbrock intake for $50 and I can do the labor myself thats not an issue at all. I would assume I can get atleast that for the GT40P intake I have right?

Probably, but I wouldn't do this expecting a difference in the butt dyno lol.

Eh, for $50 and a couple hours of your time, and gaskets, oil change, etc.etc.

It's your call, but it won't hurt to try I guess. If you do, post back with your thoughts on the swap.

10-4 will do

your biggest bottlenecks are the stock heads

All the research I did said GT-40P heads were a decent upgrade from the stock heads. Is there anything I can do without crazy modifications to make them better?

minimal upgrade at best.....tons you can do to them but not cost effective.......mill, bowl work, valvetrain upgrade to lighter stuff, ect ect, but it all costs

the edelbrock will make more power than the gt40 for sure. thats a real good deal, Id jump on that deal even to put it on the shelf for a later build.

expect a 10-15hp increase for the gt40 heads and intake. not really worth it for the price of gaskets and such.

dont forget, the 93 cobra was only rated 10hp more than the other 5.0's and they basically had the gt40 heads and intake.

Everybody is correct. The honest answer is that the GT40P heads are going to choke and limit the power of both intakes, so it probably will not even matter that much. Now if you get better heads and cam, THEN the intake will matter. The Edelbrock will be better for sure. But the truth probably is, you will not notice anything until you get better heads and intake, so I would just leave it alone until then... unless you have nothing better to do.

You will notice more of a difference on other upgrades such as suspension, gears, and drive train upgrades vs. upgrading to the Edelbrock with GT40P heads.
