cold air intake

cold air intake
Im about to buy an intake and ive always wondered if cold air intakes are safe to drive in the rain. I had a friend who went through a big puttle and his sucked up water and ruined his engine. I know thats an extreme case bnut it seems like whe ur driving in the rain water would be splashing up onto the filter all the time. So are they typically safe to drive in the rain?

RE: cold air intake
Im not to sure about the 95s but the fox body stangs have fenderwall mounted intakes, and iv never heard of anything like that happening. im sure if you stuck with a fenderwall mounted cai , youll be fine

RE: cold air intake
yes it does suck up water, my friend but a CAI on his honda accord v6 and his motor got fuked up big time! alot of water got in it.. but for a sn 95 i bought a wrecked one with a CAi and it goes directly into the fender and it does go right above the tire if i can reemmebr so it would take up all that water during the rain.. its just a matter of time before things start going downhill, hence its not a " right then and there" expereience.
