Headliner trim pieces
Hey guys, I'm almost done installing my new gauges and my triple pod A pillar (it's hot as hell in my garage, so I've been taking my time), but I was having trouble taking off the front headliner trim piece to take out my A pillar. Can anybody describe to me in fantastic detail on how to get this thing out without snapping it? I have not found any GOOD videos on how to do it. The one from late model restoration is useless. Mine seems to be on there pretty damn good.

you need a trim removal tool, basically looks like a screwdriver with a eyelet like a needle on the end, only larger.
there's 4 clips that hold it to the roof underneath, you can make it easy by using the trim tool, or you can pry it off with a flat screwdriver. I had to pry mine off when I redid my windshield and it was a beeoch to get out. good luck. |
Where do you get the tool? Would you happen to know the part # or anything like that? I managed to get it off, but with the new pillar pod I will need to take out off, install it, then put it back on.

never need any tool!! I just pull them down, quick yank

Sooooooooooooo much better than the other way. A special thank you to Mjr46! Is it ok that it stands up? That's the way it wanted to sit and be tight without going stupid either way.

Whoops. Sorry. Wrong thread........ I realize that now. lol

Mine was tight and when I removed the windshield when I painted the car it popped out. Think mine might have had some glue on it. Now it just pops out like mjr46 said. Just so you know I had to trim the autometer pillar to fit a little better. I think its supposed to just go over the stock pillar so its larger than stock. Kinda dumb if you ask me, should be same as stock. Had to trim it at the windshield.

That's what I will probably do. I didn't have time to finish it this weekend, but all I have left to do is solder one last connection and set up the pillar and gauges.
