Random question: How fast am i going at 2750 and 3250 RPM?
I've got an 89 5.0 automatic, i was wondering what speed you're going at 3250 and 2750 RPM in top gear
I lost my speedo about 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten around to fixing it or even lookin thru junkyards for the speedo transmission gear..
anyway i noticed i feel real comfortable cruisin around 2750RPM and even though it dont feel that fast 3250 feels pretty fun for stretches where i dun have to worry much about traffic
Anybody know what speeds these would be? i hadn't learned anything but the speed at gear changes till now lol
Peace

m=2.73
z=3.08
e=3.27
and rim size doesn't matter....tire size.......if they are stock tires they are about 25 1/2" tall

RE: Random question: How fast am i going at 2750 and 3250 RPM?
In my '90 GT Automatic all stock with 2.73 rear gears and 225-60-R15 tires (stock size), at 2000 RPM I'm running 82 mph. Based on that at 2750, I'd be running almost 113 and with the same setup except for having 3.27 differential it would be running aroun 94. Check the chart below for comparisons based on my stock setup. Sorry for all the dashes, but tabs and spaces don't work so well in this HTML without a deal more effort than I'm willing to put in this early.
RPM--------MPH--------Rear End Ratio
2000-------82----------2.73
-------------72.7-------3.08
-------------68.5-------3.27
2750-------112.75-----2.73
-------------99.9-------3.08
-------------94.1-------3.27
3250-------133.25----2.73
------------118.1------3.08
------------111.2------3.27

RE: Random question: How fast am i going at 2750 and 3250 RPM?
Numbers are simple math, just did the calculations. Note that the speed I noted on my stock setup is in overdrive with the torque converter locked. At higher speeds, I'm not sure if the lockup maintains in the torque converter, and if not there will be some extra slippage that would result in a lower MPH for the given RPM.
