Not thinking of smog, Thinking of air charge temp. West Virginia is a far cry from desert type weather and 110+ temps. A slightly cooler intake temp will run better than a supper hot one unless you dial the timing back a couple of degrees.

like I said , desert, mountain, the depths of hell, it isn't gonna matter, those itty bitty 5/16 lines that go into the throttle body don't cool the air charge, nor do they do anything for it, since the area they surround is a very small area, it was designed for cooling the exhaust gases for the egr, NOT the incoming air intake charge, so stop thinking it does anything for it, because once the air passes across that 2 inch area the plenuim heats it right back up. The only other thing passing coolant through the throttle body is for is to prevent throttle body icing in colder climates. FYI my ride lived a majority of it's life in Southern Utah Before I moved to WV and did fine, so yes it has been in desert type climate
