Default Fuli psi for 89 5.0

Is the psi pressure on my fuel rail supposed to drop? When i turn the key on it hits 42 psi. When i shut the key off the pressure drops and bleeds off. Im new to fuel injection. Car wont start just cranks over.

No it should hold pressure. you have a leak in the system, likely the fuel pump check valve is bad.

Welcome to the forum......

How fast does it bleed off ? My car holds pressure for 5 - 10 minutes, then very slowly drops a pound or 2 every half hour. Then the instant I turn the key, pump primes and pressure is right there again.

Stock should be 40-45 psi with engine not running, or engine running with vacuum line pulled of regulator...or 32-35 psi with engine running and vacuum line hooked up to regulator
