Default Car feels like I have no launch

I've had my fox for a bunch of years it was near complete stock when I got it. Over the 4 years I changed some things like the rear from stock 2.73 to 3.73 and again to a 4.10, I think I should have stuck with the 3.73 for reasons of the AOD tranny, I feel like shifts ate shortter and the pull off the line in my opinion been reduced. Anyone ever see this phenomenon.

60 ft time is the only way to verify that

Is your trans stock? A good shift kit will get you higher shift points and firmer shifts.

That's it. I built it with all the heavy duty internals, I spent a year putting it together. I've had a TransGo AOD-HP in there had some trouble with forced 3-2 downshift. So now there's a Broader performance VB in there with a 12" 2200rpm non lock converter also from Broader.

How long have you been running the 4:10's ? Is this a recent swap and you thought it should be snappier, or have you been running them awhile and maybe your just getting used to the pull ?

That could be the desease called "Mycar-usedtobe-fasterous", it's very common.

I've had them in awhile. I started a couple years back like I said with stock motor and some bolt-ons with a built AOD with an Edge Racing 9.5" 2800 non-lock stall with the 3.73's I created too much slip on the the highway at cruise speeds of 60mph (around 1900 RPM) so I spoke to a someone who suggested I go up a gear size to bring the RPM up at cruise speed to try to eliminate some of the slip. So I went to the 4.10' which brought it up to a little over 2000 RPM. It definitely helped that problem but it created a different one, a considerably softer launch.

Hmmm, I can't imagine what would be causing this. Unless something with the cars tune is pulling/losing power. Vacuum leak, dirty MAF, low fuel pressure, etc, etc.

What about wheel spin ? Is this a street car with street tires ? I'd think that would have a hard time hooking up.

Do you have any 60ft times to compare and verify your feelings like jwog stated above ?

And your sure it's launching on low gear, not starting out in 2nd from a misadjusted shifter cable.

Just throwing thoughts out there......

soft launch is due to inadequate convertor....2200 is not enough

That's a thought. I had the 2800 stall in and it got out of the hole quicker. But not snap your neck hard. Had it dyno tuned and at that time it made peak torque at 4400 RPM and peat HP at 5400 RPM. 236rwhp and 250 ft.lbs.
I changed the converter to something I thought would be a tighter harder launch. I'm beginning to think its a combination of a tall rear gear ratio on a AOD that just toms thorough a very narrow power band.

I had it dyno tuned. I'm gonna try to go down to 3.73's first then maybe go to an aftermarket cam something like the Crane 2031 supposed have a 1400 to 5400 RPM power band maybe it would be matched better to the 2200 stall and GT40 heads and intake.
