Hatchback Window Molding Adhesive
Going to be restoring the quarter window molding and roof molding on my Foxbody. I'm also doing the door molding but I believe that is just held by a screw. I was wondering what the best type of adhesive to use on the quarter and roof. Thanks.

I'm talking about 3 spots. The first being the molding on the door where you'd rest your arm outside. Then there's the molding starting at the base of the windshield that moves up and across the roof. Finally, the quarter window molding.

The belt molding on the door is held by the screw at the door handle end and then rivets along the top of door. Just remove screw and slide molding to rear and then roll it outward off the rivet heads. For the drip rail molding along the roof there is also just 1 screw at the windsheild end of the molding. As far as adhesive for it goes the stuff in the molding will probably be reusable if you dont fill it full of crud. If you do decide to clean it out (have fun with that by the way) you can use window weld to put it back just pull the weld into a thin strip. For the quarter window youll have to remove the inner quarter panels to access the retaining nuts. I cant remember off the top of my head how many there is but its a lot (maybe 9 or so per glass). To put it back use 5/16" window weld. The 3/8" stuff is too think and will be a bear to get back properly. Once you take the window off youll see where the window weld will go back. I suggest starting at the bottom make a continuous line all the way around.

The moldings for sale are just covers. You can use some high build primer and sand the moldings smooth and repaint them, install the covers, or replace the glass. A/M replacement glass doesn't have Mustang on them. To find OE glass you're going to pay for it. I bought some years ago for $700. Now they're over $1000.
