Default thinking of trading

this guy asked me the other day if I was willing to do a trade for my 88 coupe for his 89 GT. The guy wants me to trade the car plus give him $500. I have gears 3.73's, full exhaust, wires and 160 mph speedo and spring (fms). He has full exhaust and aftermarket lights. I don't think that's a good trade but what do you guys think. He did come to me today and said that he was willing to do a straight up trade with no money. I do like my little coupe but I like the gt's better. What you guys do?

Just depends on what you like most. If you prefer the GT then go for it. Just remember to make sure his car is running well. You should check it out first, or have someone check it out for you. You really don't want to get stuck with some beat to hell car. If I were you I would keep the coupe, but thats just because I prefer coupes. His car also has mass air already which I believe appeared in 89, which I'm guessing you don't because you didn't mention it (though you could convert yours easily). I think it would be a pretty fair trade straight across, not $500 extra depending on the mileage of each. If anything he should probably give you some money if both the cars are in the same shape.

personally I wouldn't do the trade cause I wouldn't have any (reliable) info about the history or any of the weird stuff that could be happening on a 15+ year old car.

The guy says that there are only 106k on the motor and about 3k have been put on in the last two years. The body looks good and stright. No I don't have the mas air but have been looking to do that along with a motor rebuild. My motor has 230k and still gets a 148- 152 psi on a compression check. I think that great. The only problem that I have with this car is that the heater core needs to get replaced and I have a slight vibration. Thanks for the input. When I started looking for another mustang (about a year ago) I was looking for the coupe that started it's life as a 5.0 not a 2.3. After some looking around I found it. I think that paid a little much for it but that's what I wanted and couldn't pass it up.

I wouldnt trade. Its like rollin the dice. I am not much of a gambler. With your car you already know what ya got.

i personally wouldnt do it bc you have a lot more mods done to your car that adds up to be that your car is worth more then his. Your car is running great from the sounds of it so keep your car and just do a mass air conversion and rebuild your engine when it comes time
