1st Thread - don't shoot me- wrong flexplate
Guys new on here, maybe you guys can help a Ford guy out. I bought a sweet restored Bronco but the joker that restored it had the 28oz flexplate on it when it needed the 50oz. New HP engine from Sure Fire Engines out of Texas. vibrated badly, I'm not sure how many miles he put on the new engine but to get it to the shop I had change out the flexplate was probably like 50 miles.
I just got it back and the 5.0 is very smooth and that shows me that was indeed the problem.
My question, I know driving an unbalanced motor can possibly wreak havoc on an engines journals crank, bearings etc., is there any chance some damage has been done? How would I most likely know? Under load I get a slight vibrations, but, I also have 33 BFG mud terrain tires on the joker too. I thought I would reach out to this crowd that has so much experience with 5.0's and 302's.
Any of you guys with a long history with these motors have any thoughts?
Thanks!

First symptom would be a failed rear main oil seal. Maybe even look for uneven oil pressure/low oil pressure. If the oil pressure is not dropping real low at idle then shooting up during accel I wouldn't worry.
I wouldn't beat my self up over it, if its not leaking oil then its unlikely to have caused any serious problems. That rear main journal is pretty stout, and with only running 50 miles with the wrong balance its unlikely to have damaged it.
