Default Going to see a 93 Cobra

I'm going to check out a 93 Cobra with 95k original miles on it, and i'm wondering how can I tell it's a real Cobra if the guy doesnt have the SVT papers? Is there a way to tell by looking at the VIN?
Also the guy said he's just looking for the best offer he can get. The car has been on sale for a while so I think I could get a good deal out of him, but i'm not sure what price to start at cause I honestly dont know exactly how much the car is worth. Can anyone give me an idea of how much I should be paying for it? The upgrades it has are, 6 speed tranny, cobra wheels, aluminum drive shaft and aluminum radiator, caster chamber plates, and flowmasters. He says the only problem is the paint, it's black, which I would be repainting. I really want to get it, but don't want to overpay, can anyone throw out a Ballpark price?
Thanks

One of the easiest ways is to check the VIN. If the 8th letter on the VIN is as " D " it is a Cobra.

Example
1FALP42 D 6RF012345
