Default Speed sensor

I bought a 95 gt and the guy i bought it from told me it had a 5spd from a 2003 v6 mustang in it. It shifts and drives fine. Problem is i have no speedometer function. Do i need a special adapter or what? Oh it has 373 rear end gears.
please help.

You mean the speedometer does not indicate anything? What sort of adaptor do you refer to? Go underneath the car, locate the speedometer cable connection to the transmission, remove the single mounting bolt, remove the cable/gear assembly from the transmission, and have a helper observe your speedometer in the car. Rotate the gear down under the car, while your confederate watches the speedometer. If the needle moves, some problem outside of the transmission/ speedometer exists.

96-98 Ford stopped using the T-5 in the V8 4.6L Mustang, but kept them in the 3.8L V-6 Mustangs. The T-5 behind the 3.8L is a 3.35 first gear set with a .68 over drive. In 1999 the gear driven speedometer was replaced with a electronic sensor with a built in tone wheel just behind 5th gear. While it is possible to convert the housing and install a speedometer gear, some machining is required.
