Default Manual trans dies in neutral

I recently test drove a 1994 GT with a 5-speed. When I parked it, I attempted to put it in neutral and pull the parking brake to let it idle. However, when I let out on he clutch it died. I tried this several times to make sure it wasn’t in gear, and it died every time. Does anyone know what would cause this?

thanks

Default 1986 GT dies while driving

Deebyrd, Could be either tranny or clutch. Big question. Can you push the car with the clutch disengaged, clutch pedal all the way to the floor.? Also, check the Master for proper fluid level.

Clutch is cable-actuated. Could be a worn-out quadrant...
