Question Clutch Fork Under Tension?

My 1989 GT clutch pedal is on the floor. The recently installed aftermarket quadrant does not seem to be the issue. When I checked where the clutch cable connects to the clutch fork I noticed that the fork moves back and forth with little effort. Shouldn’t the clutch fork be under tension? If it should be under tension, what do you think the problem could be that it is not?I’m trying to determine if this is something I can fix or should I take it to the shop

Default Clutch Fork Under Tension?

gervin, from a fellow blogger, 5.0 Mustang 1989; I know when I put my new cable and quadrant on with firewall adjuster, it said tighten it until you have 1/4 inch or play in the pedal.

Either you have to take alot of slack out of the cable yet, or the clutch fork slid off the ball stud when you had the cable unhooked. That little spring clip is known to have one of the fingers break off or stretch out over time. Not uncommon for them to slip off once the cable tension is released.
