I have an '84 GT. The motor was in need of a rebuild as the guy I bought the motor from ran it on a blown head gasket for months. Unfortunately the block is messed up and I cannot use it. I have a complete '78 302 that I'm wanting to put in it. I rebuilt the motor a few years back and it has always run good. My Mustang motor, however, has a different flywheel imbalance. I tried to find a machine shop that would turn the flywheel and balance it for the '78 28oz. imbalance. No one will. I have an '82 flywheel that I can use. It's out of a Mustang. I believe it has the correct imbalance but I'm not sure.

When did the 50oz imbalance begin and do you think that the '82 flywheel will work?

Also, when I looked at the '82 flywheel it had dowel pins in it that helped hold the pressure plate up. Do they screw out or are they stuck in there?

Finally, the '84 pressure plate is different from the '82 flywheel. The bolt pattern doesn't line up. Do I need to get a different pressure plate as well or is there a modification I can do?

the blance changed in 82 so u have to be certain that u have the right flywheel go to the auto parts store and see if u can get one for a 351w truck the 351 always has used the 28oz so maybe u can find one to match ur combo
