Default 89 GT trouble after alternator upgrade

I have a 89 GT AOD. I was replacing the alternator with the LMR 130a upgrade kit. Before I finished I broke the positive post on the starter solenoid. I ran up to Autozone to get a new one and low and installed. The new one seemed to have two little posts instead of 1 like OEM. Once installed I couldn't get it to start. So I tried to jump it. I then realized I didn't tighten the post enough. Once I did and started the car the starter remained engaged and the car was making a terrible noise.

I need to know where to start. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

If battery voltage is too low, during start/ crank mode,it will trigger the starter solenoid contacts to stick and weld themselves together.Disconnecting the battery cable then lightly smacking the solenoid housing with a rubber mallet, will unstick the contacts.Voltage should not be below 9.5-10 volts during crank mode. Check all of your grounds also.Primary, Secondary & EEC ground. If the starter is shorted to ground, the solenoid contacts will also weld themselves together.

Make sure you plug the red/blue starter trigger wire to the S terminal,if youve got a 4 post solenoid. That wire shouldn't be connected to the I terminal,if this is how youve got it wired.

If youve got a standard size starter (86-91 model) the solenoid should have the positive battery cable, all of the smaller gauge wires & the 3g alternator cable connected to one of the large solenoid posts. The 4ga starter cable should be connected to the other large post by itself.
The red/blue wire goes to the S terminal.

If youve got a mini starter (92-95 model) the solenoid should have the positive battery cable, all of the smaller gauge wires, the 4ga starter cable and 3g alternator cable connected to one of the large solenoid posts. The 12ga starter wire should be connected to the other large post by itself. The red/blue wire goes to the S terminal.

Make sure the solenoid is grounded good. The mounting bolts should be tight and the back of the solenoid and the fender apron should be clean, since the solenoid is case grounded.

A defective solenoid can also cause the contacts to weld together.
