Set top dead center
I'm not quite sure how to turn the crank so I can set the #1 piston on tdc. For some dum reason I forgot to mark which cylinder the rotor was set to when I pulled distributer out.

RE: Set top dead center
Valve covers off or on?
Use a socket and pull handle on the nut for the balancer/pulley on the crank shaft to turn the motor clockwise.
If the valve cover is off watch for the intake rocker to go down and them back up, once it is up, turn until the 0 on the balancer is at the mark. You are now TDC for 1.
If the valve cover is not off, take out the #1 plug, hold your finger in the plug hole while you turn the engine, you are trying to feel when the cylinder is trying to pressurize on the compression stroke. When you feel the push of air out the plug hole, continue rotating clockwise until you align the 0 with the pointer.
