The T-56 Trans.
I have a mustang 5.0 that I have been working on for many years. Recenlty I had my rearend rebuilt with 3.73 Richmond gears. Soon after my 5th gear went out in my T-5 transmission. I noticed that chevy puts a T-56 in the camero, can I use that T-56 in my 5.0 once I change the Bell Housing. This would be a great upgrade for my car, simply because I see plenty of them for sale out of wrecked camero's. Someone out there please let me know.

RE: The T-56 Trans.
The T-56 is offered in a bell housing patten and with an input shaft to fit the 5.0, the input shaft on the GM T-56 is no the same as the 5.0. You would also need to switch over to a hydrolic clutch system, as well as relocating the cross member and getting the drive shaft shortened. IMO unless you drive a ton of miles on the interstate it's just not worth it. I don't even remember the last time I used 6th gear in my car, and I only use at speeds above 75 mph (this might all change when I put in the 4.30 gears though).
