Vfast help w/ Lower Intake
after i changed the lower intake my car has been drinking oil. i found a lot of oil in the upper intake so i changed the PCV valve and the screen was cleaned. I also still have a whistering sound from the back of the intake. My uncle put on the front and back blue gaskets for the lower intake both times. he put it on the first times when we built the engine and the second time when i got the new intake so i think i have a leak in the back of the lower intake so im going to replace the lower intake gasket without him this time and do what you said and just use gasket maker. do you think the lower intake could be my problem for oil bc it hasnt done this until i changed the intake. also i noticed i have white smoke/steam coming out the valve cover but as the car warmed up it got less and less it never did this before. please help i cant find the problem
also the oil filled the whole bottom lip where the side plate is on the edlebrock intake. it took 2 rags to get all of it out but the weird thing was the lower intake was clean no oil at all

RE: Lower Intake
I replaced upper/lower intakes with major problems.
First I placed silicone around all four water jackets on the head. New gaskets. Place a thick amount of silicone on the ends of the block, where the valley is. About the thinkness of your pinkie.
Replaced the upper intake, connected all the lines. I also had steam (white smoke) coming from the exhaust pipes at the rear and the headers. This is water that got into the block from when you cracked apart the lower intake from the block.
I have also changed my oil four times in a row to get all the "milky" oil from the motor. I found some of the water laid up in the muffflers and then blew out after drivng around the block. Also my 86 GT has two bolts in the oil pan, one in front one in back for changing the oil.
If the steam goes away after driving around your fine. But if you stop driving and then re-start the car some time later and get the same white smoke you may still have water getting into the combustion chamber. I would recommend replacing the lower intake to head gaskets again. Change the oil, the plugs and may even change the water coolant because that too may be contaminated from the oil. You don't need that also.
Good luck. CLEAN ALL SURFACES REAL WELL BEFORE APPLYING GASKET/SILICONE

RE: Lower Intake
If you have oil in the upper intake, you might want to pull the lower intake off and check your oil gallery plug. I had mine pop out and that made the PCV valve suck oil up into the upper intake. You might also want to check the metal cover for the PCV valve on the bottom side of the lower intake.
