cold air intake

Default cold air intake

I was lookin on ebay for a cold air intake and I find a lot of brand new cold air intakes for cheap. Why is that?
Also I dont want a peace of crap intake so where can I buy one? Thanks

It's the elbow/pipe that connects the mass airflow sensor to the throttle body. You can buy ones that go outside the engine bay into the fender area. It helps get cooler air into the TB. When you make the air more dense going into the TB it makes more HP.

listen to him... make sure it goes into the fenderwell casue then if it's not it will suck hot air from the engine. but also you might wanna put some insulatyor casue the hot aire from the engine will heat up the metal piping also

I really wouldn't spend 50 more bucks on a namebrand CAI, all that you are paying for there is a name. Seriously just get a fenderwell CAI off of ebay and save your self like 50-60 bucks.

The only thing about getting a CAI intake is if you live in a Smog legal city and the intake you buy doesnt have the C.A.R.B. sticker on it, it wont pass smog and if a cop decides to take a look under your hood he can flag you for a ticket.
