Questions on carbed 302.
It's me again...
What would you say gas mileage / drivability and more importantly, power, is like with this 'Stang I may pick up...
The motor is freshly rebuilt with Bcam, ported heads, roller rockers
Edelbrock intake and holley Carb (600 is on it, 750 comes with it)
bbk long tubes with short H pipe
Dynomax bullets but flowmasters will come with it
World class T5 Fresh rebuild with Hust shifter
Brand new clutch
New master cylinder and front brakes
Nitrous Works plate kit
Holley fuel pump and regulator
That is exactly what he sent me, lemme know if you can. I'm used to good 'ole fuel injection.

RE: Questions on carbed 302.
Screw puting fuel injection on it. If it runs good with the 600 then keep that on there. Is it a vacuum secondary carb, or a double pumper? I'ld say just as a guestamate that it would be around 300 horses with around 9.5:1 compression. It would be very drivable if tuned right. My buddy runs a big comp cam in his motor, I believe it's 228/234 duration which is a little bigger than the B cam you're talkin about and he still daily drives it. As far as gas milage, I believe that you'ld be capable of getting 20mpg if you keep your foot out of it and it's geared right. You never mentioned rear ratio. I would definately sell the 750. Your motor will absolutely drown with a 750 on it. A good 750 can go for over 100 bucks. If the 600 is a double pumper and you do decide to go with EFI let me know and i'ld buy it off ya for my Mustang.

MK I love your car/motor, but please throw out the Edelbrock and buy a Holley. I've used Edelbrocks before and they only get you about 70% of your performance. I put a Holley on it and in under an hour had the jets set, vacuum secondaries set, shooter set, and the choke removed (and I live in Illinois where it's cold as hell in the winter.) You can get one for 20 bucks from a local car guy or racer and buy a rebuild kit for under 50 bucks. Hell selling the Edelbrock will more than pay for it.

Hmm...
Well he called me about the car, I called him back - no answer yet. So I am hoping to look at the car and find out more on what's in the rear end, more info on the carb, and other mods, etc...

Keep the 600 on it, it's very similar to what Ford used on the last carbed 302's from the factory.
Info on Edelbrock (Carter) compared to Holley carb's. On my old race car I tryed one of each, same day, same strip, weather within 200'AD and the carbs were the same CFM rating. There was NO differance in the ET's.
I'm not really in with the Ford alphabet cams but if thats what you got in you may as well stick with it for awhile.....

Well I went on a drive...the b cam is apparently grinded to be more agressive...sounds like it too.
Thing is, after a certain RPM when giving it gas, it will buck, like it's not getting enough fuel. Apparently, as the owner says, it's because the 600 isn't putting out enough and he would reccomend a 650...or turn down the 750...
edit: BTW they're both double pumpers...
edit 2: It has 4.10s installed.

Well, here's the deal... Edelbrocks use a manual secondary setup that regulates when the secondaries will come in based on vacuum. The problem is probably that the secondaries are not tuned right. When the secondaries come it it may feel like a stall and then a big kick in the a$$. This is because the motor is bogging until it is ready to recieve all that fuel/power. With a good vacuum secondary Holley, you can buy a spring kit and install the spring that will open the secondaries at the right time. It should feel like a constant, non-stop, non-violent pull into the secondaries. My car has a 570 Holley Street Avenger on it. When I slam the secondaries open, it slams me in my seat without bogging. I have 308 gears too... I think a Holley would clear up your problems. If you want to talk about them more email me at wise_guy_18781491@yahoo.com. I'll help you all I can.
Good luck....

BTW I'm not in agreement with the "good fast cheap" statement. I've built many motors for under 500 bucks and ended up with low 14 second cars. I've even had friends build 13 second cars for under a grand and never had a problem with them. good fast a cheap may be accomplished but you have to not care about what people say when you build your motor.
