a 429 in the Fox?
Hello to all!
I am thinking of buying a 5.0 (most likely a 1990 25th ann.)
I am looking at the Notchback instead of the GT... due to it being more light in weight.
well my neighbor has a 429 Block he will give me-
So I am wondering is it possible to put that in a the bay of a 5.0 ?
and if I did... is there quite a nice aftermarket for it? like heads, cams, roller rockers etc...etc?
Please let me know.
and talk with me on other options too, that would be great...
...LIKE- would it be better to get a 302 and build that up etc?
b/c this 429 Block will be FREE from my neighbor.
THANKS

RE: a 429 in the Fox?
hey, i had the same prob awhile ago. i have a 351C and a 429 in my backyard, and i asked about it awhile ago. it should come up under search somewhere. i think i posted a poll called something like "351C or 429" or something like that. check, i got a bunch of answers. main problem is your ability and your cash supply. it would be a biznitch to fit that ***** in there, but its possible.

ha take the 429 regardless because thats a hell of a deal for free you can always turn your money on that. It would be a nice setup but the only thing would be that W word... WEIGHT. but would still give some nice burnouts haha

na, the weight would be offset by the massive gobs of power. if the motor is tuned up, the car wouldnt care if there was that much extra weight. 'sides, my 83 is under 3000 lbs anyways, so whats a few hundred (at most) extra? and same with his. if it was a newer stang, there might be a problem. thats one thing i dont get, why are all the cars getting heavier? they are sports cars, yet they weigh a friggin ton! but, thats another thread.

^Yeah the 1990 5.0 Notch LX weighs in at 2600 lbs I believe (looked it up on edmunds)
which is niiiiiice =)
So yes I see that most agree the 429 would be better to work with then a 302(5.0)
Yes that is a good deal for the 429 =)
Nice @ headers and mounts for them.
So this requires some custom welding and etc?
or will it bolt right in with the mounts?
Thanks!

oh, it will require way more than just custom welding! it will consist of some crazy amts of work. you will have to get new mounts, and everything will have to be beefed up. then you will have to knock out the towers, then make the radiator fit cause the motor is way longer, then you will have to find a trans that will fit, then make the trans fit under the car, then find a driveshaft to fit it, then upgrade the rearend to hold the power, then make all the connections work. its not easy, but if you want to, it can be done, just hard. youd also need a good cash supply, cause this will take some serious time and energy to do it all.
