Upgrading My Alternator
Depends on if you go aftermarket or factory.I used a 100 amp alternator off a lincoln lsc and when i swapped it i had to use the bracket off the lincoln.

Im pretty sure you can get an aftermarket alternator thats high output to fit in the stock bracket. If not universal brackets arent much to install or to buy.

What year of stang is this on?And what do you need an upgrade to accomplish?

You should be able to go into your local Advance Auto or Auto Zone and tell them you want a larger amperage alternator for your ride, you need to know what amp you already have so you can make sure they don't sell you the same thing you have. (No mods necessary if you go this route) if you get one off of something else you will probably have to add brackets.

i have a 1990 and swapped my alternator with a 140amp out of a newer mustang (i think it was a 94 or 95). It doesnt bolt right up, you have to grind out the bracket a little. Its pretty easy, then just make sure you get the plugs that go with the alt so you can hook it up. Good Luck

More power is what it accomplishes. Its an absolute must for vehicles with electric fans, high powered audio/video setups, high powered ignitions and anything else you can think of that would go in a car.

I used the lincoln lsc alt because it is used on a vehicle that already uses an electric fan and all the other options the lincoln has and handles it fine.In fact i traded the janky old alternator in and threw 30 bucks down on a brand new one and this thing is stout.Only thing that may suck for any of you that do this swap is wiring up the external regulator. It was a bitch since i was starting from scratch and had pulled everything from a junkyard.Just remember to use all new wiring to save yourself from wiring gremlins. And 4 gauge at the minumum is a must.
