Default Heat Spacers

Ok I'm buying the Trick Flow Street Heat upper and lower along with the throttle body adapter for my 94 GT. Should I also buy a heat spacer? They are like $46-$60 from Summit, which is where I'm buying the intake from.

sure, why not.
it will lower your intake temps a little and give you more torque.

Right but what I'm basically asking is is it worth the extra cash?

How does the heat spacer work? What does it do to keep it that much cooler? Does it require hood modification? Sorry but I havent heard of this before.

It works by separating the metal upper from the metal lower with a "plastic"? spacer. The spacer is less conductive to heat and in theory the upper will be a few degrees cooler. Cooler = denser= more hp. Plus the added space makes the runners longer = more tq. I've heard they have a tendance to cause vacuum leaks.

Should I get a 3/8 inch spacer or the 1 inch? It says in the Summit catalog that if i get the 1 inch that my car will "require modifications". What does that mean?

I think it means your intake will hit the hood.

I think its worth the money.
it is made of phenolic material, not plastic.

a spacer will hit your hood but if you get another hood with more clearance it will fit and you can add tall valve then too

So the 3/8th wont hit? Is there anyway that I can keep my stock hood and have the 1 inch spacer? I would perfer to get the 1 inch, but I don't have the money to get a new hood, so is there anything I can do to get it to fit (more or less) and keep my stock hood?
