head lift .....
ok...most heads say .550 max lift...but edelbrock heads say .575 max lift...now does that mean bigger cam or what exactly....and if i were going to run edelbrock heads which cam would you all recommend to go with them...my buget is tight so no costum grind cams...i want a good fast car...but all on a budget...already got everything else just need heads and cam any help would be greatly apprecited...thanks

You really wouldnt have to go with a custom grind cam anyway. If your setup isnt too radical than you pretty much can always find a cam that will suite your needs. Try looking into Comp Cams and Crane Cams. They have MANY cams to choose from that will fit your needs.

it really all depends on what you wanna do with the car: street rod, track car, daily driver.... the lift numbers on the head represent how much lift the springs can take. if you have any type of emissions laws to pass your best to stay under .5 lift. but basically the springs on the eddie heads can handle most of the stuff that is thrown at them.

thanks for explaining what lift on heads mean....thanks.....i am running a stock bottom end of a 89 302.....my car will mostly be a weekend worrier...the car will be for hot roddin around town and at the track....not really to go to work or anything like that...and no i do not have to pass emissions.... so would you say...some edelbrock heads and a cam that has been undetermined as of yet...thanks and any help is greatly appreciated...

looks at a used set of alum heads..you can even find some already gasket matched....your cam will be base on other mods,gearing ,etc....your can need to match the rpm range of the heads,intake,etc with gears also in it as well...just remember smaller is better
