Default Gross carbon build up

So i switched out my throttle body the other day only to find about a quarter inch thick of carbon i think built up on parts of the tb, spacer, and also inside of my intake manifold. what would cause this and when i take off my manifold what should i use to clean it?

Carb cleaner will work find to take that stuff off. Berrymans works wonders! Carbon buildup in the Intake is usually caused by a bad PCV Screen in one or both of the valve covers. Oil vapors and oil get sucked in through the PCV hoses and get deposited in the intake and crystalize to form carbon.
