Default new to forums

well i am new to the forums and new to msutangs.

a lil about my self im 17 i drive a 2000 focus zx3 lighlty modded

But i have decided to stop dumping money in the focus and as soon as a i graduated in may to get a 5.0 what would be reasonable to pick one up for? 2000-3500?? this will be a project car.

heres what i was thinkin of doing, my dads freind owns a shop he builds drag cars. I was going to have him port/polish 3 angle valve job and milled on my stock heads ( is that a good idea or no)

i am getting a 347 stroker kit he will be doing all the machining on the stock block.

heres my question, will these parts be ok to use?

steeda #20 cam
time chain
steeda roller
valve spring/retainers
24# fuel inj
C&L MAF system/k&n cone filter
75mm bbk tb
asp 3 in crank pulley
hypertech tuner

al new gaskets motor will be put back together with arp studs.

tko500 tranny
spec stage 3 clutch
spec flywheel
4.10:1 gears
eaton posi diff
moser 31 spline axles

anything i missed as of right now the car will be like this for a few years ( not daily driven, thats what the focus is for) then will be tore down and built into a full blown drag car.

ok as for intake manifold, headers what ones do you sugest?

2000-3500 will definetly get you a nice fox project car.

if you're going with a 347 i'd dump the stock heads and get something better, like AFR 205s'. i don't think (but i'm not sure) that 24# will be enough for what you're doing. you'll also need a bigger fuel pump (255) and a fuel pressure regulator. 75mm TB might be too much (although it won't hurt) but 70mm would be enough. get the TKO600 instead of the 500, same price. intake i'd go with something like the performer RPM II. for headers get some long tubes. i wouldn't waste the time and money on the stock block, seems like you have big plans, get something stronger that can handle whatever you can throw at it. for the cam get something custom for your set-up instead of an off-the-shelf one. i noticed you didn't mention anything about tires or suspension, all this power will be useless without traction, so don't forget to set some of your budget aside for that too.

hope this helps you out a bit, i'm sure others will chime in.

post some pics of your focus if you have some, i'd love to see it.

Then sell the focus to me after the swap for half what you put into it.

I love the idea of a cobra motor in a focus.

Stock heads.....no,too much clutch and the hypertech does not make a tuner for a fox but you might find a custom made chip which is wortless,i would just get a good dyno tune. And i would go with 30's

do you have any idea how much that costs? he could buy himslef an 03/04 Cobra with some mods for that kind of money. it does make a kick *** car though, i've seen the specs and some vids, but i'd still preffer having a focus as a DD and buying a Cobra for the weekend then splicing them together.
