GT to LX swap - fitment issues

GT to LX swap - fitment issues
Hey.. have a question.. and I figure you guys would be able to help me out.
I currently have an 89 cobra gt.. . I wanted an LX in the first place.. but couldnt find one
I have a buddy with a 91 notchback... He wants GT ground effects on his car.
I suggested we swap parts.. but he claims his front fenders are completely different from mine (ford changed them in 91 to accomodate the bigger wheel/tire combo) and that they wouldnt fit.. at all.
I cant see the WHOLE fender being different.... can anyone shed some light on this?
Will 87-90 GT bumpers/sideskirts etc Fit on a 91-93 with no issues?
