'93- '95 lightnings lightnings, '93 cobra's, and the possibility of early explorer/mountainerrs
gt40p heads say "gtp" stamped on the corner. real 40's have 3 hash marks on them and a casting of "F3zz-xxxxxx"

How do GT-40s and GT-40ps compare to the likes of eddelbrock, trickflow, ect? A decent set of heads would be a great self install for me over the winter..... and cheap is good.....

They arent as good as aftermarket aluminum heads but they flow way better than the stockers. the gt40p's flow better than the regular gt40's, but you need either long tube headers or special p specific headers. some shorty headers will work but you cant change the spark plugs without removing the driver side header

You have to understand that the GT40P's are iron casting and the other ones you mentioned are aluminum and weight less than the gt40p's.
GT40P's you can find them on ebay and you can get them pretty cheap.

no, regular gt40's are not aluminum.
reg gt40's which i prefer 100 times over "p"'s are great heads for the money.
usually sell for $300 , pretty much they are the 351 windsor heads from '69 casting DOOE w/ the upgraded valvetrain and seats for unleaded gas.
the "p"'s...no matter what anybody says, (IMO) aren't that great, better than stock, but a 3.08 gear is better than a 2.73 and that doesn't mean squat
my buddy went 11.80 on iron 40's off a '93 cobra w/ a mild port job, just the exhaust ports cleaned up a little, and slightly decked.
stock '92 GT w/ 125 shot and box stock 40 intake , 4.10's and slicks.
i would buy those heads any day of the week.
a set just sold on ebay for $175 and $80 shipping.
usually $250-$300 and $100 shipping, try to find them local, or over the winter , when dudes need the cash.
