if i had my mustang at 16 id be died right now no doubt in my mind. i used to race my 2.9l ranger at 100mph in and out of traffic and that thing maybe made 100rwhp......a far cry from the 400rwhp i have now. i bought my ranger on my won at 16 and that never stopped me from racing it. not so sure id give a 16 year old a v8 but thats just me

I have a 94 5.0 for a first car. I have to pay for everything that goes wrong with it or when I want to mod it. Make them pay for some part of it and they will not trash it like he would if you paid for it all. I have a friend that got a new car for his first and he drives it like he stole it because his mommy and daddy pay for it all. Get it for him if that is what he wants. You only have one first car!

antiv6 I didn't say everyone dies from having a fast car as their first I said there are a lot of death stories. When I got my car about 2 years ago a week later I heard on the news about a girl who's parents got a brand new mustang convert. and she ran it into a bus a 100 mph. So its your decision if you think they are responsible enough then go for it you know your kids so your decision will be the best.

it just depends on the person if they have enough responsible to handle the car

speed isnt an issue with 5.0's as much as driveability and handling is....especially on wet roads.... i got my 5.0 when i was 16 and now i am 17 and the only bad thing is that they are pretty dangerous in the rain or on slightly wet roads.... but its not that bad after a while....

Exactly. I would go with the SN-95 5.0 (94-95) because of the additional saftey features. Also, I have one, and I'm 16.

I got mine when I was 18, now I'm 20, and still have it. I've only gotten a warning for speeding.

Honestly, it's your call, you know your son the best, definately better than any of us. Do the right thing....

...what...?

Im 17 and my stang is my second car. Never have had a close call or anything. Its just a matter of respecting the road and others on the road. Now if theres no cars around for a few miles i will want to DRIVE MY STANG! Its just a matter of when and where.
