I am about to buy a mustang after winter ends, and I know I want a manual 5.0. My price range would be about 2500 - 3000. I know that wont get too much, but I dont really care about looks that much, as long as it is reliable and quick. What year would be good to look at, (what years are faster or slower?). After i get the car i was thinking of puting a little money into it to get the 1/4 mile and 0-60 time down. I would be getting headers, cutouts, k&n air filter, plugs, plug wires, stickier tires, and 3.73 or 4.10 gears. Is this a good combo to get the most out the car for cheap? I know something about cars so I would be installing whatever I buy to keep the cost down. So basically i want a cheap fast reliable car. Any tips would be greatly apreciated.

Also, would it be worth it to put on bbk shorty headers, but keep the stock exhaust? Thanks, DJ

I got hold of a 93 GT for $2800, although it needed some care and repair. I am sure that you can find a fox in decent condition for your price range, but be prepared for the tedious work that will come with fixing the "details". Good Luck!
