Default pulley question

Okay so i put under drives pulleys on my car and cant find a belt that fits. i have a belt that almost fits but wont quite come under the idler pulley on top. my question is what if i just dont wrap it around that pully, what is its real purpose anyway. also would it be possible to drive it some and maybe it will stretch enough to wrap around it. any input would be appreciated...thanks

Default RE: pulley question

that pulley keeps tension on the belt, you have to use it. if you have a belt thats almost long enough, go to the autoparts store and buy one that is a little bit longer
