Default TB vs. MAF size

Hey I just bought a MAF sensor off of ebay, and I had a quick question. I know you are supposed to have a larger MAF than TB but the MAF I got was only 73mm and was supposed to be 76mm. I already have a 70mm throttle body, so will this MAF be ok or should I get a bigger one?

p.s. I know I don't need this big of TB or MAF yet, but I hope to have quite a bit done by this summer so this is just kind of a prepartion.

well the 70mm t/b is too big for your mods in your sig and you don't need bigger injector..buy the 73 will work find even with a stock 60mm maf

Agreed, it is just in prep for my heads/cam/stroker that should be done by early this next summer.

However I don't understand what you are saying about the 73mm part. I already have a a 70mm throttle body and I just got a 73mm MAF, not throttle body. What I wanted to know is if the MAF is too small for the throttle body because I have always heard that you should have an MAF that is about 5mm larger than the throttle body.

i would say you want a 76mm maf for that tb, i run a 80mm maf with a 70mm tb, and correct me if im wrong here but what is the point of buying a 60mm tb when stock is 55mm that makes no since, your spending $200 on 5mm more

Thanks a bunch for the replies. I hate when people do dumb crap like this and give you the wrong sized parts. Now I'm going to have to go through the hassle of getting a new MAF from this guy or my money back, which I bet will be a pain in the ***.

You dont want an oversized TB , especially on a normally aspirated car, because it will hurt torque, and therefore midrange power and drivabiltity, rather then improving it.

Also select a TB that is smaller then your mass air meter. for example , use a 65 mm TB with a 70 mm mass air meter
