86 heads..worth porting?
Ive read up a little on my motor and I came across that the 86 heads are super restrictive, my question is.. Would it be worth porting these heads and up grading valves etc.. or would I be better off getting some after markets?

You would be alot better going with some aluminum aftermarket heads. ALOT better. But it all depends on your budget. If you dont have the 1000-1300 to spend on a nice set of AFR heads or something than just have them polished. But IMO, I wouldnt. Go with some AFR 165's or 185's.

No , if money is an option, you can always buy some heads off of a newer 5.0. In 1987 ford enlarged the intake tract, and installed less restrictive heads (E5TE and later the E7TE) for a noticable change in HP and torque.
If you wanna spend the money go with the Airflow Research(afr) 165 cc aluminum heads, emmision legal.

Just installed a set of 165 AFRs ,and 1.6 roller rockers on my bros. 86 motor. Called up AFR and told about my concern on the flat top pistons. They recomended a Comp Cam#XE270HR-14,it has dur: 270/276 & 218/224@.50 and lift:.512/.512 with lobe:114.0-------- The car has a stealth/650 holley and a 5-speed. I need to install the 3.73, but it's an ANIMAL!! Good luck!!
