weird compression problem (little long)
I am haveing a prob with my 91lx for some reason the #8 cylinder wont get compression till i loosen bothe intake and exhaust rockers.. My combo is gt40p heads stock, trick flow pushrods 1 step longer than stock, 1.6 bolt down RR, and trick flow valve springs... Now for a minuete i thought i needed to shim the rocker but then i said why only one? Then i said maybe pushrods are to long and the other cylinders are just barely working figured it was to much of a long shot, then i was told the lifters (hydraulic needed to be bled down and they adjust themselves... Well before i did that i figured id go back to my pushrod theory.. So i took the old pushrods and put them in and viola compression came back in #8, well i wanted to see since origionally looseing them brought comp from none if the comp would go higher if i loosened them up .. Well it didnt and when i tightened them down and checked comp again NADA NOTHING WTF is going on here.. So i cheked comp on all cylinders well 5-8 1-4 was fine with longer pushrods... and now #7 has no comp either and i never had a prob before, so i reinstalled the longer pushrods in just #7 and nothing again unless i loosen the rockers up like on #8 so now i have to cylinder acting up.. Well in the meantime i decide to check #8 again and theres compression again WTF... So i loosen up the rockers #8 to see if this drops comp again upon tightning back up and sure enough loosen them then tighten them and no comp.. I go back to #7 and still no comp(unless i loosen the rockers) so the phone rings i go inside for like 5 mins tops come back ready to pack it up but i check all cylinders 5-8 one more time and they all have compression even 7and8 What the hell is going on here?

RE: weird compression problem (little long)
why did you get longer pushrods? i would put stockers in and then leave rockers loose. run motor with valve covers unbolted but just sitting on motor. now once you get good oil psi. i would then remove covers then torque each one down to 20ftlbs in the firing order. go over motor twice and you should be fine

the cam is a lunati 536/536 224/226 @112 lobe sep Also i put the old pushrods in and all the compression on cylinders 5-8 came up to normal. i am going to change cylinders 1-4 to the old pushrods too..
