Well, is it bored out maybe stroked? You didn't give us any info on the cubes. Why didn't he stick a cam in it while it was out? Idk, you could almost do that your self probably for less. Otherwise, it'll be a pretty solid and reliable engine (if he knew what he was doing when he rebuilt it, if it's even rebuilt) and should last you for a while.

it's just a rebuilt 302 with junkyard heads, a cam that doesn't match and a couple of inexpensive thingys. i'd offer 1K BIG MAX.

I think you could build something yourself that is better and for not much more money. All those "fancy" parts don't do much aside from looking pretty and you can brag to your friends you have a "milodon pan" BFD a stock pan is more than adequate for that engine.
Lets take a look:

Ford Racing GT-40P cast heads... they say ford racing..they must be good..
Comp cam 512 cam S/C.... a "super charger" cam in a N/A engine....
Comp cam 1.6 rockers (Roller).... the first good part on the list so far..
Ford Racing springs.. well they say ford racing too....fancy! if the springs don't match the cam and arent set right then they are junk. there is more to building heads than just tossing springs at it.
Ford racing (Roller) cifters... I don't know what the hell a "crifter" is so I'll ASSume you mean lifter. Plenty fine if they were new, who knows though??
Milodon oil pump... high volume too I suppose???
Milodon oil pickup... do you know why that is in there?
Morosso 7 qt dble S pan w/ dble drains....wasted money on that engine IMO
Comp Cam scaled racing timing chain..oohh another "race" part. What exact set is it? Do you know? Is it a $20 or $200 set? big difference.
Comp cam Chain gears...I would ASSume the gears came with the chain...
front mail seal...thats a good thing to have...
Sprung head bolts...WTF is a "sprung" bolt?
Rubber (steel O Ring) pan gaskets..smart move...must have had a cork job leak before!
MR. Gasket Engine Gasket Kit....not the best but maybe ok for a stock rebuild..
Holley Headers...your getting headers in the deal??? what size primaries??
Block ground down + painted...big deal, everybody does that...and your sure that all the dust and junk was cleaned out of it?
Ford aluminum valve covers...Do they say "ford motorsports" on them?

Dude, your going to get hosed in the end. Did he buy the parts new? Are they ebay knock offs? Who did the machine work on the block? You don't even know if it's been bored! You can get a brand new short block from summitt for cheap. Go to the salvage yard and buy a set of heads...take them to a good machine shop and have them gone over. Call camshaft innovatons and get a cam for it. Have the machine shop set the springs while it's there. Heck, even have the machine shop assemble the whole thing if you don't think you can do it. If you have them assemble it you'll probably be over the $2,000 mark but you know what you have.

Happy Thanksgiving!

For some reason I thought it said 1300 at the top, and still I was going to say pass.
Tell this "friend" to suck a brick.
You'll barely see any power difference with the engine you have now.
