I have a 89 lx and i dont have a overflow bottle and no idea if it came stock with one.I have a hose on the radiator cap that goes to the bottom of the frame, and my radiator stays about 90% full if i add any it will just **** out the excess when it warms up and hold it there at about 90% full.

Well, about two months ago I noticed my overflow bottle was empty every day. I soon found out that my waterpump was bad and was leaking water. Don't know if that's your problem...but your water has to be going somewhere.

My '88 5.0 LX always loses water out the top of the overflow bottle (mounted on the drivers side of the radiator surround). It has done that since new.
Tighten all hose clamps (don't forget the ones at the rear of the engine, they go to the heater). If necessary, have the cooling system pressure tested, or a UV die put in, that will allow you to see where the leak is.

Mine did that after I got a new radiator. You have to make sure you dont have any air pockets. Fill up the overflow tank then turn your car on. It may overflow due to the pocket but keep adding until its level and stays level. You might have leaked eveything out and thats why you got the airpocket now you will have to fill it up.
