First time i ever heard of a "cover" on the side of the trans, hell just throw it away and don't worry about it,since i've never seen one just think of it as weight reduction.

I was thinking about that to but was also worried about water getting in on the clutch during rain.

I can't believe all these people have changed a clutch cable and never seen the small clutch fork cover. Seems like you have it a little to tight if it's hitting the cover.

Yeah, it's on the bellhousing. It's the inspection cover...it snaps in and then bolts in...unless, you're hopped up when putting in your new Tremec and snap it in but forget to bolt in it and then it blows off when you go for the test drive...
err, uh not that that's ever happened to me

Did you get the firewall adjuster and the triple hook quadrant?
I think Bullitt3246 is on the right track.
You may need to put it on one of the other hooks, shortening the cable (threaded end at the fork) and you should be good.

We had that same problem but figured it out once I removed the dash. THe cable fell off the hook. If you run the cabel on the last hook you will have enough room to run the cover. Move the adjuster to where you have about .5-.75" of threads showing hten tak ehte slack out of the cable using the jamb nuts.
